Bean, BLOOMING PRAIRIE
Very generous dwarf bean with a more branching habit as compared with our (earlier) Fortin variety. It may look sprawly as the pods fill and cause the plant to bend under their weight. We space well our bean plants and use straw or other dry plant residues to mulch the paths to prevent the pods on the ground from moulding (Sclerotinia). Delicious as a "green bean". Shiny purple pods turn green when cooked. Impressive seed color, white and finely dusted with lots of purple giving it an airbrushed appearance. A collector's must-have. Somewhat late to mature its seeds here; well worth the wait though. Under short seasons, locate in the best spot of sun exposure and warmth. This strain contains some inherent variability in seed color 'purple density' and pod thickness. Named after a city in Minnesota.
